In Japanese culture, woodblock printing (especially the ukiyo-e style) and fish printing (Gyotaku) hold significant cultural and artistic value, with woodblock prints reflecting a rich history of visual storytelling and Gyotaku serving as a unique form of nature printing and a connection to the sea. We'll be exploring both mediums in this arts and crafts class while learning the stories behind the traditions as we create.
